Performed at Gomukh Ghat, Omkareshwar – between Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar Temples

Ma Narmada is revered as a living goddess, and her evening (Sandhya) Aarti is a deeply spiritual ceremony performed at sunset, when divine energies are most active. This puja is conducted at the sacred Gomukh Ghat, located exactly between the Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar temples, a highly charged spiritual spot on the Narmada’s banks. It is said that one can get rid of all sins by visiting Maa Narmada in Omkareshwar. Narmada is one of India’s seven sacred rivers and is Shiva’s daughter. Worship of Maa Narmada has special significance in Omkareshwar.

Description

Omkareshwar is not just a Jyotirlinga site—it is where Ma Narmada flows with the blessings of Bhagwan Shiva himself. According to legend, Lord Shiva has special grace on Ma Narmada here, which is why He is enthroned as Jyotirlinga on both banks of the river—Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar.

The Om-shaped mountain (Omkar Parvat) formed by the Narmada and Kaveri rivers is a rare spiritual formation where Lord Shiva permanently resides. Worshipping Ma Narmada at Gomukh Ghat, right between these divine sites, is believed to destroy all sins, bring inner peace, and invite the blessings of both Shiva and Narmada Mata.
