Situated near the banks of the Shipra River in the Valmiki Dham area, the temple is believed to bless worshippers with relief from all forms of obligations. According to legend, King Harishchandra prayed to Lord Shiva here during the Satya Yuga to repay a debt to Sage Vishwamitra, and was granted divine help.
