🎉 Maha Sawari & Gulal Utsav – The Final Monday
On the last Monday of Shravan (this year: 4th August 2025):
A massive Maha Sawari is held with elephants, horses, musical bands, and thousands of devotees.
The Sawari is the longest and most majestic, starting from Gomukh Ghat after Nauka Vihar, passing through Balwadi, Old Bus Stand, and reaching JP Chowk, beginning at 3 PM and returning to the temple by 11 PM.
Devotees dance, chant, and some even drink Shiva’s favorite – bhang.
The air is filled with color during the Gulal Utsav, where streets are covered in pink and red hues.

🌟 Shravan in Ujjain – Where Mahakal Rules the City

🚶♂️ Kavad Yatra – Walking with Faith
Devotees carry sacred water from the Narmada or Shipra River, walking barefoot to offer it at the Jyotirlingas.
From Omkareshwar to Ujjain and vice versa, chants of “Bam Bam Bhole” fill the air.
Throughout the month, you’ll see Kavad Yatris every few steps, all radiating devotion.
